How to Activate Your Southern Phone Sim

You’ve got your mobile device. You’ve got your mobile plan. Now, it’s just a matter of getting your device connected to your network. How do you do this? Simply by installing and activating your SIM card.

All mobile devices need a SIM card to access their mobile network. These small cards are inserted into the SIM slot on your device. Once they’ve been activated using our online tool, within a day or two you can be up and running.

Here’s exactly how to activate your new SIM.

The process is very straightforward.

Start by going to this URL: https://www.southernphone.com.au/Forms/Activate-Sim

You’ll fill out some quick details, including your name and contact number, your account number (this will be listed at the top of the welcome letter you received from Southern Phone), and your SIM number (found on the back of your SIM card). Then just follow the prompts until you’re finished.

When will my new SIM be working?

It generally takes 24-48 business hours for your SIM Card to become fully activated. If you’re transferring your mobile number and have an existing SIM in your handset, wait until it has stopped working before inserting your new SIM. (You can activate your new SIM before installing it into your device). We always recommend you keep using your old SIM Card until your new one has been fully activated.

Having trouble with your new SIM? If 48 hours have passed and your new SIM card is not working yet, we suggest trying a manual reboot. Simply remove the SIM card from your phone and shut the device off. Wait approximately 10 minutes, then reinsert the SIM and switch the phone power back on. This trick should successfully kickstart your new SIM into working properly.
