Both the Crookwell Senior Citizens building and the Binda Memorial Hall recently shared in grants funding for renovations provided from Southern Phone to the value of $25,000.

The grant has enabled some important projects to be completed including the construction of a pergola at the Senior Citizens building to the value of $10,000. The members can utilise the covered veranda area for a shady place to sit in summer or for use for barbecues or as an outdoor meeting area. The members are now also protected when it rains.

Repairs have also been carried out by Council at the Memorial Hall at Binda including replacing some of the floorboards in the Hall that had been damaged by a leaking ceiling. The ceiling has also been repaired. The hall is a well-used facility by the community for weddings, meetings and other functions. The Hall was allocated a $15,000 share from the recent grant.

The Mayor of Upper Lachlan Council John Shaw said, “Many residents will benefit from these generous grants allocated by Southern Phone and the Council is pleased to be a shareholder of this Australian company.”
